I filed for BK in 1992. About a week later I got a garnishment order from the sheriff. I called my lawyer and he sent them sheriff the paperwork and I got my money back that they garnished. If I remember correctly it starts when you file.

If you receive anymore letters or calls from creditors refer them to your attorney and s/he will take it from there.

I filed for BK in November and my discharge date was in March of the next year.
