Can I personally file BL if I am now married but debt was from before marriage?

I had a lot of debt before I got married. Then lost my job and now am in lots of hot water as some of you who follow this board can guess. Since my debt was all incured while I was single and is not my husbands responsibility (and he doesn't want to pay it either!)
Plus we really don't have the funds to pay since I am unemployed. I thought perhaps I can file bankruptsy (my spelling doesn't look right sorry) As an individual with no assets. Since every thing my husband and I have in in both our names is that possible? We are in Missouri
