Just a few comments -
Where is your Realtor? You need to talk to her/him. Talk to the Lawyer that closed the house, he might have some sort of information regarding redhibition. Did you buy the house as/is? (in certain states, as/is is very specific and certain items don't apply!) Did the sellers know about the damage before they sold you the house? Even if they didn't - you can still probably get out of it.
You really need to talk to a real estate lawyer before this gets any worse, you could have probably gotten this fixed way before now!!! Anyways - I really think that you have some avenues to look into. Good Luck!
