Credit Card Collection Threats HELP!

I had a credit card from my past relationship I've been paying on faithfully for 7 years until I got injured at work last year. I was enrolled in Genus Credit Counciling at the time to continue to pay the credit card, but because it was not enough for them they didn't accept the program, now they have charged me off as a bad debt and it is in collections, they are calling daily threatening me to settle with them or they will take me to court. The balance is $4,500. I don't have this kind of money. Please advise me of my rights/options? I'm completely stressed over this. Thanks
