Hmmmm.....it seems that some people have had success with this route and others have not. Angela, what did you do differently to actually get it removed. Did you send your own letter along with their offer? If so, do you have a copy of the letter that you sent Capital One? I have an account with them that is about to go to collection. However, in a year or so I am might be in a situation to do something like this. It would be worth it to rebuild my credit and get the chargeoff removed. I don't want to be tricked and scammed though like it appears they have done to others.

Also, someone mentioned that Capital One bought J.C. Penney accounts. Has anyone successfully done a plan like this where you pay your old J.C. Penney account through Capital One? If so, I assume you got the old J.C. Penney charge off removed? Any success stories out there to give me hope?
