I have an appointment Tuesday to get my bankruptcy going. Since all of my credit card debt is past SOL, I wouldn't have to repay them. But one is suing me and their judgement will most likely be the $1791 balance + .2699% interest since 1999 + court costs and laywer fees, eventhough the lawyer is the credit collection agency. So, bankruptcy will wipe out the debt I couldn't be forced to pay and the potential judgement, but I will still be left with the $57,000 student loan debt. I think it will be easier, once I find a job, to make the $600 student loan payments without paying off a judgement that could be in excess of $5000. I think this is kinda silly, but I have no control over how or when a potential judgement will be paid off?
For those who know, if I get a well-paying job could the collection agency start garnishing my salary immediately, plunging me into poverty?
