Although I said in my answer to the court that the debt was past SOL, it really wasn't when the suit was filed. I don't think that I have a leg to stand on in court. I have nothing to negotiate a settlement with and the judgement will last nearly as long as the bankruptcy on my credit record, possibly longer. Given that everything else is past SOL, I could offer them the $800 I plan to use for the bankruptcy. But i'm sure that won't fly, since they're seeking the original balance, interest and attorney fees. I seem to be stuck.
