I am about to do battle with Cap 1 myself..but first....they sent you a settlement letter and then refused to settle??? Was there an expiration date on that letter that was missed? second....Did you sign anything from the collection company? Their interest charges start only when they take over the account plus a one time collection fee. Was there major delays on your part communicating with anyone about this debt? BY THE WAY, NOT COMMUNICATING IS HOW I GOT INTO 90% OF MY TROUBLES BUT FOUGHT MY WAY BACK...AT LEAST TO A BETTER SETTLEMENT WITH OTHER COLLECTIONS. My complaint with Capitl is that they charged a $70 annual fee without notice that put me overlimit and then charged me an overdraft fee! If their penalty fees create the negative situation, can they charge an additional penalty?? California Banks can not, researching credit card companies. Anyone know?
