I believe why chat said something about the UCC covers this with a 4 year SOL although I am not sure. Even though it was placed on your report that is not the date that starts the 7 year reporting clock. IF it was from 1997 then it goes 7 years from that date which is not that far away. What is the CA trying to collect. Also, an OC does not have to respond to a validation request per the FDCPA but the CA does. You need to dispute with them and when you do they have to mark your account as under dispute which they frequently forget to do- a violation of the FDCPA.
