Debt and Moving Abroad

Can anyone tell me what to do if I need to return to my home country due to a family crisis. I have about $5000 in credit card debt and a new car, now worth about $5000 LESS than what I paid for it 3 months ago. I would like to just take off....but am scared they would follow me. Please help, this is a horrible situation.
