This is nonsense. Call your credit card company and complain. Ask them for a phone# to visa/mc and complain there as well. The merchant is in violation of their visa/mc agreement.
Also, after you verbally complain to the cc company availe yourself to protections under the Fair Credit Billing Act. You must complain to the cc in writing that you dispute the charge. Do so within 60 days of the billing date. Send the letter CRRR. Look at the back of your last cc statement. They will explain a bit about your rights and give an address specifically for disputes. Get on it quick. You will not have to pay the charge while it is being investigated but, you must make payments on any balances not in dispute.
