Sean, I am really not sure what the extra charges were for other than maybe interest, fees or whatever they wanted to tack onto it. I never paid by check, I always paid by money order and I never wrote any access checks either. I only owed around $221.00 when I got sick and I never used the card again.

The last time that I paid on this account was 7/00. My TU report shows that on 10/02; Bal. $1200, Most Owed $354, Past Due $1200 and charged off 5/01. With this notation "Profit & loss writeoff".

I guess they have rights to keep on adding interest, etc. as long as they like even if the account has been unactive for months or however long. So now I have to pay $1200 for a $300 cc, because I screwed up. I guess we learn by our mistakes.

But what is sad, is that I was paying for insurance coverage on this card for protection in case I was out of work for sickness, etc. BTW, this was an offer that Cap1 sent with my monthly statement. I thought I had sent a claim into them and that I was covered, but I guess not. I told the rep at Cap1 about this and he said that I would have to talk to the company that I had this insurance with and take it up with them, because they hadn't rec'd a payment from them. My luck though, I can't find any old statement from Cap1 or anything else, which would have the name of the company, because the fee for this protection was being put on my cc with them. I asked the rep if he could give me this info and he said no.

So I am just sol.
