Recently i was contacted regarding a car that i voluntarily repossessed
in 1995. The account was charged off in 1996, i believe charged off.
Since this time it has been removed from my credit report in 2002
I beleive that the SOL has expired but it is close. Because the date of last activity/report on my credit report was 01-96 would this mean that my SOL for Mass. has expired. Mass states that it is 6 years.

When I was contacted by this collections agency last week i believe that I acknowledged the debt but told the lady that i could not make or arrange payment at this time. Does this reset the SOL if it has expired? Can i still ask for a validation of the debt for validation purposes or to see what type of intereest has been placed on it.

How in fact can I check when i last made a payment on it...Seems obvious that it has at least been 1995 when I voluntarily repossessed it
So I think that I am ok with using SOL as a defense...but not 100% sure.
