Your friend is wrong. They can't lie to a judge about your being served and still get a judgment. Service of Process (being served a summons) must follow strict guidelines, set out in your state laws. Once the summons is served, the proccess server has to file a 'Proof of Service' with the court showing when, where, how, and to whom the summons was served.

IF they used an incorrect address, you may NOT have been served properly. This far from unusual. If you're afraid of a 'sneaky' judgment, then you need to call your local courthouse and find out if there are any judgments filed against you.
