I've been recently getting notices from National Financial Systems re a citicorp open-end cc account that is at least 23 years old ($5800 principal; $12,400 in charges) They say if I write them in 30 days they will obtain verification of the debt or obtain a copy of the judgement and send it to me. Actually I don't even know if there has been a judgement handed down. After I ran up the charges (in Georgia), I was out of the loop for many years and pretty much not traceable. However, a few years ago, I entered the "system" again, and have built up a very good credit record and am trying to "do it right." About one year ago I started getting these notices. Could they have been renewing the judgement (if there really is one) every 7 years? This item, of course, is not on my squeaky clean credit report, but what to do? What can they do?
