three cards/three people/same name, charges mixed up

In 1997 I got a sears card and made some small charges, the first bill I recieve said I owed over $1200! My father, and now deceased grandfather also had sears cards. They listed all of our names as the same on all three cards as joseph j. *** when Im joseph ***, my father is james j ***, and my grandfather is joseph L ***, they cant tell whose charges belong to which card as they are all messed up, they have improper names on all the cars as there is no such person as joseph j. ***, and we have disputed this for years but it keeps getting sold and we are attacked, any advice? what can I do? Im in massachusetts if that helps.
