While this is a normal dunning letter, as Scott has stated, I must point out that it also is a violation of the FDCPA, and there's appellate court case law to support this.

Including the 30 day dispute IS correct, HOWEVER, by including a demand for payment and the statement that you must call them 'immediately', it violates the FDCPA as the letter is a 'mixed message'.

As for giving them you SSN.. NO WAY ! If they can't prove the debt's yours without you providing them with that info, then tough tooties.

I wouldn't call them, why waste your time ? They'll only get nasty and try to intimidate you into paying. If you can't, what's the point in talking to them ??
