That's a pretty sneaky letter - do you happen to notice when the letter was postmarked ?? They will now claim, of course, that you didn't abide by the agreement because you failed to pay on the date they demanded. If they have not agreed to the credit report terms, then I wouldn't sign a damn thing. Did you ask for a 1099-C or that the remainder of the balance not be sold ?? If not, they'll do that to you too, and you'll deal with yet another CA.

Not sure if the letter would work with the CRA to have the account updated to 'paid', but wouldn't hurt. First you have to find out if they deliberately pulled a fast one on you --wouldn't surprise me one bit if they did.
