I just received a judgement against me from a debt that occured in 1996. It(the debt) was approx. 2 months away from being 5 years old and was way past the point of being 4 years old. It was from a credit card and so it being an "open ended account" I thought and fought for the 4 year SOL for my state which is Florida. No lawyer in town would help me and when I wrote the judge to explain and state statue numbers & TILA numbers it didn't work. So now i'm stuck with a $7000 judgement that has a 9%interest rate accuering. Since I'm a single mom head of household, full time student and only own a 1995 vehicle, I'm not sure there is much they can do to come after me but I'd like to know how long do I have to wait before I can lead a Normal life again and not have this judgement hanging over my head.
