They will be charged off at 180 days of non-payment or insufficient payment. So, even if you send them $5 a month, it won't be sufficient to bring the account to a current status and it will be charged-off anyway. This is a big hit to your credit report.

Debt consolidation companies are scams anyway, you don't want to got there.

You say you have Discover and Citi in the mix ? Discover will likely sue you at charge-off or close to it. Citi may wait a bit longer, depending on how much you owe them. What's your total debt ?
