Well, I obtained my credit report to possibly get the addresses of collection agencies my credit card accounts were placed with so I can send cease and desist letters. All of the accounts say they have been charged/written off, but the one from FNANB/Circuit City says charged off and purchased by another lender. The report says it was purchased by Performance Capital Management on 11/01/2002 an this place reported it on 01/01/2003. I could find NO information on this place other than they lost a 2 million dollar lawsuit to the FTC a couple years ago because of violations of the FDCPA, and had filed bankruptcy to keep from paying it. Also, under Type of Debt, it says Secured, although this was an unsecured card and I have received nothing about a judgment nor does my report say any judgment has been brought against me. The weird thing is a few weeks ago, I received a letter from a guy named Gary Sadler out of Nashville, TN who claimed to be an attorney (though I could find nothing in the Yellow Pages to verify this). It was regarding this FNANB account. He said his client was Ravenwood Receivables Corporation (which I could also find absolutely nothing about). I have mailed this guy a verification of debt request. What do you guys make of this? Why would it be listed as secured debt when it's unsecured and no judgment has been obtained? And who has my account, PCM or RRC? Thanks for any info.
