I have settled a number of personal accounts with AMEX. I owed them $22,000 on one account.
$124 on another
$7200 on another They are not real friendly but after I ignored them for several months they began sending 'offer of settlement' to me. I first settled the $7200 + $124 in November 2001 for 50% and just a few months ago I settled the $22,000 account for $9400. All of these accounts have been hanging around since 1998. They were initially very aggressive and threatened to take my home, garnish my wages, boil the rabbit, but they never did any of that. Hope this helps. Good luck! Nick
