From what I understand about credit counseling (My estranged husband is in Ameridebt) as long as you have been making regular payments through credit counseling the SOL begins when you again stop payments.

Do you have your credit report? I'm wondering if the credit counseling service was even making the past years payments on time? If not, you have further damage.

If you want MY advice, for what it's worth, I would contact the original creditors and explain the situation. Maybe they will work with you.

My husband placed a joint credit card in credit counseling. This is being reported to my CA. I called Ameridebt and asked how they could do that without first notifying me. They told me that they didn't have to contact me. I called the OC and they said all I can do is pay off the balance in full. (which I can't as a single mother) I pray this doesn't get worse before it gets better.
