HELP! UNVL/CITI Can't Verify Joint Account ..What Do I Do Now?

I recently received my credit report listing a joint account with my estranged husband I've no knowledge of. I called Unvl/Citi and they stated that the account was opened 10 years ago (12/93) and they can't verify past 7 years. My estranged husband entered this account into Ameridebt without my knowledge in 2002 and is currently making payments. There remains a balance of $3,579. The bills and credit cards were sent to my husband's business address further keeping any knowledge of this account from me. Unvl/Citi says I am still responsible for this account as a joint card holder even though I told them I've no knowledge of this account. How do I proceed from here???
