I am the same situtation and I am now in Cali but the debt is from when I lived in IL. I owe about 15,00 total in student loans and credit cards. The 3,000 is the loans the rest is cards. I had no job for months(I moved to cali to work as a nanny so I get free room/board) I now make about 1500 a month(working two jobs) I hvae not paid anything in ovre a year, which I know was stupid and I know has screwed me over--but I had no money at all and no one to help me out.
Now I can pay about 500 a month to the bills but i'm afraid to contact the agencies--becuase I dont want them knowing my phone number or harrassing me. I'm also scared of discover finding where I live and suing because they havent sent me a bill(them or collections) in over a year--cause they as far as I know dont have my addy in Cali--but now that I am working, I dont want them to sue me or do anything and i've heard discover will do that.
