no they can't start it over. all they can do is call you and sent you an inital dunning letter to let you know that they have this. depending on what type of company it is they can call and send letters offering a settlement. but once it is past the statute of limataions there really is nothing they can do. tell them you want proof that this is your's. what they need to send you via mail or via fax is an affidavid that say's that it is a fedraly validated debt. or you can send them a dispute letter have a lawyer or someone type one up for you. then all communication has to cease and disist actually send them a letter telling them to stop all communications with you and will never call you again. the only other thing that will get them off your back forever is offer them 100 up to 300 cause if they really want you to pay they will take that. then your not out alot of money. the 4200 that they say you owe is interst. cause it is still out there it is still gaining interst at what ever percent you it was at when it went into collections.
