hello, I'm from Tennessee. In January 2002, I received a letter stating that my Social Security will be garnished in order to repay a debt to the Army and Air Force Echange Service from 1994. I prompty disputed this collection attempt at first in a telephone call to AAFES where they said that they will send out all of the info to validate the debt.

3 weeks later of course I did not receive any information, So I sent a CRRR letter requesting all info. to support their assertion that I owe the debt, etc.

2 Weeks later I get a 1099-c in the mail stating that the debt is cancelled and nothing else.

Today I get a letter stating that my social security is paying the debt. I am hoping that this is just a paperwork problem. Any suggestion on how to fix this would be greatly appreactated.

Thanks
