My Father-inlaw passed away last week. He had a Visa card in his name only and owed about $6000. Fleet bank has contacted my Mother-inlaw and told her that she has to pay the debt and if she did not that they would put her in jail !!!!! She is scared to death and asked me to help her.
They live in Florida on Social Security. My Father-inlaw had no assets in his name only, they do own a condo in both names on which they owe #35,000 and the appraised value is about $50,000. She did have a $10,000 insurance policy on him with her as the beneficiary. Does she have to pay the Visa bill ?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
