WOW! Pretty low for a major lender.
Fl. is not a community property state. The insurance payout avoids probate and is not part of the estate. The estate is responsible for paying final expenses. If the estate is broke, every creditor is out of luck.
Have your MIL send a letter CRRR to Fleet and tell them the estate is insolvent and never contact her about this matter again.
