Not exactly, no. The rule of thumb is that you stop using credit cards for 60 days prior to filing for bankruptcy,otherwise anything you charge withing that period may not be discharged. If you spend and AGGREGATE (all purchases on all cards combined) of $1000 or more it could be looked upon as fraud and you could be in hot water if they decide that's what you're up to.

In truth there is no real 'qualifying' for a bankruptcy, but there are some general guidelines that will decide whether you end up being charged with fraud, your case dismissed, or being pushed into a Ch 13 instead of a 7.
