The attorney handling the case called me back finally. Suprisingly, he was very nice. The debt, it turns out, is for US Bank and was bought by Landmark National. It is for a credit card. I explained to him that it was NOT my debt, and there's been a mistake. He told me he would give me a chance to contest the judgement and find out what's going on. He also gave me the account # in question, and said that he did not know where I work, and would not take steps to garnish my wages.

Do I need to get an attorney to figure this out now, or do I first contact US Bank to get proof of this supposed debt and fight it? I've never had a credit card with US Bank, and on the time period in question that this account is from, I was still recovering from divorce, and didn't even have a job!
