secured cards look bad? why chat?

This is a follow up to a previous question. one year to go for clean credit, but why chat says NO to rebuilding now. Does it look bad to get a secured card. does this hurt my credit rating? i have a decent amount of money saved and would like to do what i can to get a healthy CR. If waiting for a clear report is the way to go then im all for it! any advise would be great. thanks
