before letting my things fall off CR i did obtain 3 secured cards aboout three(or 4) years ago now. Capital one, FCNB, Cross country Bank My CR was crappy but i did it anyways. Observations when doing this: I received no more/no less collections calls since getting the cards. I actually kinda remmeber receiving less calls. 2. Over the past few years it has rebuilt my credit and I now have these good standing accounts on my report while the majority of things are standing on the edge to fall off ( this + next year) So for me it has been positive..Now that everything is coming off these accounts are already there and established as good standing. The cards themselves do not appear as "secured credit" or anything of that nature on my report they appear as normal credit lines/cards. hope this helps. ----------------------- Also. Yes they charge astronomical fees but i decided to start doing it before hand based on the idea that I needed to know at that time if i could control my debt and spending Three years later I have proved myself that I can. . I plan on canceling these accounts as soon as my report comes clean.
