Sure. Go to the Register of Deeds office (aka the Records Room), which is probably located in or near the county courthouse. Locate your deed of title to the property. Search by your last name in the GRANTEE index. Anymore, these are almost all on computer. However, some counties still use the big books. The index will give you the Deed Book and Page Number of your deed (i.e. 891-46) If you have a copy of your deed, you can skip that first part. Find your deed in the deed books. Look at the property description. It will include where the previous owner got his deed to the property by giving the Deed Book and Page Number for his deed. Go find his deed. Repeat the process as far back as you can or as far as you wish. Like I said, a lot of this is on computer now, which range from simple to amazingly difficult to use. But there should still be the big Deed Books in there. Larger counties, or counties with large numbers of properties (i.e. resort areas), will have the deed books on microfiche or film.
