Help...PLease...Whychat, ladynred, or anyone else

I rec. my first letter today..it was from direct merchants bank who i owe 12,5 to..they have sold my acct. to sherman acquistion lp and placed the account with Alegis Group lp for serviceing..I have also received a letter from alegis group lp. stating that they have purchased the account and all payments should be made to them.. at the bottoom of the letter it says that this is an attempt to collect a debt, and that if i wish to dispute this i must notify them in writing within 30 days to get verification of the debt or obtain a judgement and if they dont hear from me then they will assume the debt is valid...what do i do now..do is ask for validation...do i call them.. do i offer to settle Please help me..i live in florida and this is the first of several im sure ill be hearing from ...thanks
