RMA Sears time barred and counting

Charged off 12/95 by Sears, bought by Equifax collections and re-aged and now owned by RMA. RMA contends that date of last activity is 8/96 when Sears supposedly charged off the debt. I have proof of 1st late 9/95, then last payment to SEARS directly 12/95. The old SEARS item is off my report, but the RMA will not come off until 8/03. Any suggestions on writing to RMA? I have dates, copies of reports that do not show RMA adding the account to my report until 2000. Should I get an attorney yet?
