Re-marriage and bankruptcy

It looks like I am going to get re-married this year and at he same time take care of all the major previous 5-year old divorce debt with a chapter 7 since I won't be enslaved to it for the rest of my life. Most are charge-offs by now , but she has great credit and a house , compared to my relatively bad credit (I bought a 2001 car at 17% if that tells you anything.) Is it best to do the Bankruptcy prior to the marriage so that her assets won't be threatened. She doesn't think so, but I want to make sure I do this right.
