There is NO WAY you can restart the SOL clock for either reporting OR legal action UNLESS you sign a NEW contract with the creditor, or have the debts rewritten, (consolidated).

IF you reach a "settlement" with a collection agency AND you have signed an agreement with them, that THEY have agreed to, they MAY resell the balance to another CA, AND this CAN be used to "re-age" the account on your credit reports, however, it is NOT LEGAL and you can have it taken off, but it is a LOT of trouble.
