Creditors don't recognize divorce decrees!

I personally have been divorced from my ex for over 2 years. We separated 4 years ago. My name is still on the house she and I lived in. The mortgage company refuses to remove my name from the account. I explained about the divorce and was told they didn't recognize it, maybe a court will but not them. The only thing I am able to do is try to convince her to refinance in her name alone.

If I were you I'd stop paying on the account. He can bring up the decree but the creditor will ignore it. I'm not trying to tell you this to put your ex in a jam but you are just throwing away your money.
