Let me guess... SEARS, right ?? They are SOB's to deal with and won't budge on hardly anything.

If the account has been charged off,then the CR should show a zero balance and a notation stating its a charge-off or profit/loss writeoff. It may also say 'sold' or something similar.

Besides validation with RMA, I'd also dispute with the credit bureaus, reporting a balance AND as a charge-off is inaccurate.
