Hello, I recently contacted by a collection agency that some hospital bills turn over to them has been outstancing since 1998. I asked the agency if they could send me an itemized statement on each account so that I could compare them to my records. The agency said that they were not allow to send me one and to call the facility who sent me to collection. I did that the hospital will send me an itemized bill based on what was sent to them. They don't have records of what was sent to the agency. I then call the agency back and told them what was told to me by the hospital. The collection still will not send me any information on this account other then telling me over the phone what the have received, I was told they were not allow to send me this information. I asked them why and their answer was because the account was so old all that they were doing was making a last attempt to collect by phone. I have started to look through my records and have come across some payment to this agency. I have a few more records to look throught, but I would a copy of their records for comparson.

Is this agency correct in stating that they are not allow to give me the information I am requesting?

thank for your help.
