The estoppal letter is useful IF the account is being reported on your credit reports. If it is NOT being reported, the original SOL letter will prevent further collection activities and provide you with PROOF of your notifying them if they should attempt any other collection activities, or try to file suit.

In my opinion, the estoppal letter is only useful if you are planning to sue them for violations or to remove accounts from your credit reports.
