Nope - not even close. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act clearly states that you have the right to ask for verification of debt. They then have no chioce but to provide it. there are some rules regarding the timing of the request, but that can vary from state to state. The federal law gives you 30 days from notification of collections to ask for it.
