can creditor get judgement and wait years before reporting

Lets say a creditor got a judgement against you. You moved and they stated they tried to serve you, but couldn't find you. You check your credit report years later. No judgements on report. Lets say there waiting for activity then theyll inform you of a judgement. Basically, if they win a judgement and you dont know about it do they have to within reasonable time report it to the bureaus..
