Don't even try this. This is the worst thing you could possibly do. Some people say never go beyond...say..twenty percent of the limit. I have and do go a little higher than that sometimes...but I never get more than 50% of the limit ever. If you are trying to show responsibilty and what to get more cards, better job, etc. you need to show them you can manage this account well. Explore the different payment options. Do they have online access? It's so easy to manage via the 'net vs just waiting on a paper bill. Pay early. When you can make two payments in one month...do it. If you are starting at ground zero...they are going to watch everything you do for the first year very closely.
