Thanks, LawGuy. What would be considered misrepresentation and/or criminal conduct anyway? They say I maxed out the cc without any intention to pay, which isn't true. I've had this account 9-10 years and have never been late, and never missed a payment. Under the circumstances, my story/situation really does sound weak. Am still worried they'll take me to court and say I was unemployed, already under a mountain of debt I couldn't pay, and then went on a shopping spree with no intention of repaying. If it comes to this, how can I best defend myself? Proof of submitted employment applications? Proof that I asked about returning the merchandise when I found I couldn't pay? Still worried... :( Thanks for your help.
