Send the collection agency a LETTER CRRR, stating you wish ONLY to be contacted IN WRITING.

That way, you have a record of who promised what to whom.

Make sure you keep RECEIPTS of any and all payments you make. I DO NOT suggest you pay by personal check. Use a bank money order, preferably from a different bank than you normally bank in.

I am NOT suggesting you stop payments you have already started on, what is done is done, however, you should certainly not be harrassed by the collection agent when you are trying to do the right thing.

Make sure in your letter to the CA that you state you have filed an FTC complaint and will pursue other legal steps if they do not cease and desist their telephone contacts.
