Our insurance agent said that credit card companies can make it difficult for surviving children by calling up credit records. Enough of those already start impacting your credit rating.

The cards are all in her name. There are no cards that have my name on them. I understand that the card companies could put a claim against her estate but that really consists of personal propery now - she doesn't own a home anymore.

She is not behind in CC payments and frankly, other CC companies keep sending here card applications! She may have been late in paying a card maybe 2-3 times in her life. The debt against her small income is staggering and I supplement her with money when I can but it is a spiraling cost...with no type of coverage for her medication and her current debt, it will only get worse.

Her checking account has my name on it though and of course she pays her credit cards by check.
