I might suggest-- no STRONGLY URGE that you check your "insurance agent-financial advisor" out VERY CAREFULLY.

It is ILLEGAL for any certified financial advisor. or qualified insurance agent to be disseminating spurious financial advice.

Since you are using YOUR income to help your mother retain her credit cards, any one with ANY sense would tell you the first step is to take the cards away from her to stop any additional charging. The second step, is to sit down with a QUALIFIED estate planning lawyer and determine the best way to eliminate the balances without causing your mother or YOU any further financial hardship.

I also strongly URGE you to have your "insurance policies" that you have acquired REVIEWED by the same QUALIFIED estate planner lawyer.

If you have any other problems in your family, like requiring an opinion from a neurosurgeon or pediatrician, I suggest you do not give your insurance agent (is he a brother-in law?) any opportunity to advise you on the subject.
