The debt was for 12,000 but with late fees and
high interest rate, it snowballed to over
14,000. They agreed to settle for 6,800. I
asked them to drop that to 5,000. They have
not answered yet.

I did not tell them that I am going back to the
U.S. My mailing address shows that I am still
living abroad. What I told them is that I have no
assets left in the U.S. and no real estate to
sell in order to come up with this kind of
money.

I read it somewhere that if I settle, I should ask
for a 'FULL DELETION' and 'PAID AS AGREED'
entry in my credit report. They said the only
thing they can do is eventually upgrade my
account to 'Settlement-In-Full'. I need to know
the difference of these entry marks in a credit
report.

I can pay the 5,000 but want this deleted from
my file. I am confused to what I should do and
how to proceed.

What will happen to me if I don't settle? Can
they try to sue me, even knowing I am abroad?

Please help!

Betty
